Terms & Conditions Chile

Terms and Conditions – Chile

Collision Damage Waiver – Theft Protection (CDW-TP)

Collision Damage Waiver – Theft Protection (CDW-TP) is not insurance. The purchase of CDW-TP is optional and not required to rent a vehicle. If you purchase CDW-TP, the rental company agrees, subject to the actions listed on the rental agreement that invalidate CDW-TP, to contractually waive your responsibility for the cost of damage to or loss of the vehicle after the deductible of up to $5,000 USD, depending on car class, and depending on whether the vehicle was involved in a roll-over accident. CDW-TP does not cover partial theft or accessories such as side mirror, hub caps, etc.

If CDW-TP and CDW-TPD are declined, the renter is responsible for the full cost of damage or the full value of the vehicle.

Third Party Liability (TPL)

Third Party Liability (TPL) - The purchase of TPL is optional. You may purchase TPL for an additional fee. TPL provides you with coverage for damages and injuries to third parties which are accident-related expenses not pertaining to the rented vehicle, up to the policy limits, subject to actions that invalidate TPL. This is at least the minimum financial responsibility limit as outlined in the applicable motor vehicle financial responsibility laws.

No deductible applies.

Liability insurance purchased on third party travel websites and insurance that accompanies US credit or debit cards may not provide coverage in Chile. TPL coverage is effective only in Chile. TPL is included with the purchase of CDW-TP and CDW-TPD.

Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)

Cross Border Policy

Unrestricted driving within Chile.

Driving into Argentina is permitted. A special permit is required to cross the border into Argentina. The rental location must have a customer's signed rental agreement in order to request the permit. The permit is issued by the Chilean Government 24 hours after receiving the signed agreement. The permit can only be requested Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 6:00pm. The permit cost is $200 USD. The permit is only valid for 30 days from issue date. In addition to the permit, the Argentinean government requires renters to purchase liability insurance at a cost of approximately $100.00 USD. Alamo charges this at counter and the payment is made to the insurance company. Alamo is not responsible for any increase in cost of this liability insurance. We strongly recommend customers/renters contact the Argentinean government prior to crossing the border for complete and updated information. Customers may contact Ampere, an insurance company based in Chile, at (56) 2-694-7000. Crossing into other countries is not permitted.
